The new ‘Woke’ U.S. military continues to prove Fox News host Tucker Carlson right by personally attacking him for First Amendment-protected speech the troops are sworn to protect.
On Tuesday, Tucker Carlson rankled the PC principals in the U.S. military ranks after he slammed Biden for making a “mockery” of the service.
As for a brief bit of background, this is what the flak was all about.
“Here’s what Joe Biden said: ‘Some of it is relatively straightforward work where we are making good progress designing body armor that fits women properly, tailoring combat uniforms for women, creating maternity flight suits, updating requirements for their hairstyles. And some of it is going to take an —you know, an intensity of purpose and initiative to really change the culture and the habits that cause women to leave the military,’” Tucker said.
“So we’ve got new hairstyles and new maternity flight suits, pregnant women are going to fight our wars,” Carlson continued. “It’s a mockery of the U.S. military. While China’s military becomes more masculine as it assembles the world’s largest Navy, our military needs to become more feminine, whatever feminine means anymore because men and women no longer exist. The bottom line is it’s out of control. And the Pentagon’s going along with this. This is a mockery of the U.S. Military and its core mission which is winning wars.”
This was enough to trigger a backlash from official U.S. military accounts and service members. An official U.S. Marine Corps account fired back.
One civilian questioned the Social Justice Warriors tweeting from the account.
“Please focus on China and not Tucker Carlson,” Scott Malkinson wrote, alluding to the Marines actually directing its tweet at the Fox News host, a private civilian.
This prompted a sassy reply from the Marine account.
Then Daily Caller editor Virginia Kruta was compelled to share her own experience.
“I have,” Kruta wrote. “And Tucker’s point was that the priority should always be mission first — and the current administration is telegraphing a very different set of priorities. At no point did he say that pregnant women shouldn’t serve or couldn’t serve honorably.”
This prompted the Marine account to attempt to defend itself.
“We are human and that tweet was intended to support our female warfighters,” the Marine account responded. “We can do better and we will collectively take a knee, review our procedures, and get back in the fight. Our focus is to train, fight, and win.”
The military account then effectively apologized for going after Carlson.
“We are human and we messed up,” the account managers said. “We intended to speak up for female Marines and it was an effort to support them. They are a crucial part to our corps and we need them to know that. We will adjust fire and ensure the utmost professionalism in our tweets.”
The Marine account was again called out for attacking Tucker Carlson, a private citizen, on Twitter.
“What protocol changes will be announced to ensure that this kind of waste of taxpayer funds doesn’t occur again in the future? Perhaps the [DOD Inspector General]can recommend some action items,” Andrew Kloster tweeted.
“We’ve strayed away from our brand and realize that. Our standard practices will be in effect and you can count on us to correct our mistake going forward,” the Marines replied, not getting the point. It’s not simply about a “brand,” it’s about showing all Americans that their constitutional rights will be equally protected by the U.S. military.
Command Sgt. Maj. Benjamin Lemon apparently didn’t get that message when he subtly threatened Carlson.
“This afternoon, the Department of Defense issued a press release attacking this show: ‘Press secretary smites Fox Host,’ Tucker said on Thursday. “Like we’re a hostile foreign power. Remarkable.”
“The DoD didn’t ‘attack’ your show, we absolutely disagree with you!” Command Sgt. Major. Lemon replied to Carlson. “Trust me, you’d know if the DoD attacked you—it’s a doctrinal term.”
Lemon then doubled down on Friday.
“To be clear, this isn’t a political stance! Tucker Carlson came after MY FAMILY!! Women in the military are MY SISTERS! I DEFEND MY FAMILY! Defend—another doctrinal term!” Lemon reiterated.
But a number of Americans are alarmed by the brazen rhetorical attacks by military members on a private citizen for his constitutionally protected criticism.
Some of the best extended criticism comes from Kurt Schlichter, an Army veteran who attained the rank of Colonel.
“We owe it to our troops & our country to demand nothing less than a military that is focused solely on deterring and winning wars, that is totally outside of politics, and that is dedicated not to one party or some alien faculty lounge ideology, but to the Constitution,” Schlichter concluded.
“God bless America.” It’s going to need it to survive the left’s incessant need to politicize every aspect of American life.
