Thanks to Biden’s Disastrous Border Policies, the Number of Unaccompanied Children at the Border is at Record Highs

Joe Biden’s open border policy has been a total train wreck.

But a new report reveals things are more catastrophic than anyone could have imagined.

Not even two months into Biden’s presidency, the number of unaccompanied children in the custody of Customs and Border Protection has skyrocketed.

The number of children has tripled in just two weeks.

And it puts the numbers at an all-time high for CBP.

Here’s the latest:

When you make it clear that border security isn’t a top priority, this is what you can expect.

The number of unaccompanied children will only continue to increase unless Biden finally admits it’s imperative to secure a nation’s border.

But Democrats are chomping at the bit to grant millions of illegal immigrants citizen status for political gain.

As long as they vote blue, they don’t care what happens to them.

And they don’t care about the dangers it causes the American people.

The Washington Examiner reported:

There are more than 3,200 unaccompanied minors in CBP’s care, with 1,400 who have remained in custody past the 72-hour limit.

“DHS has continued our close coordination with HHS as it increases its capacity to care for unaccompanied minors and place them with sponsors,” a CBP spokesperson told the Washington Examiner in an email. “Our goal is to ensure that CBP has the continued capability to quickly and efficiently transfer unaccompanied minors after they are apprehended to HHS custody, as is required by U.S. law, and as is clearly in the best interest of the children.”

The news comes as law enforcement officials and political leaders in states along the southern border have repeatedly warned that immigration has turned into a crisis situation.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott also announced deploying National Guard troops to combat the “smuggling of people and drugs into Texas.”

“The crisis at our southern border continues to escalate because of Biden Administration policies that refuse to secure the border and invite illegal immigration,” said Abbott. “Texas supports legal immigration but will not be an accomplice to the open border policies that cause, rather than prevent, a humanitarian crisis in our state and endanger the lives of Texans. We will surge the resources and law enforcement personnel needed to confront this crisis.”

The Biden administration last week denied a crisis is occurring on the border, with Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas instead describing the situation as a “challenge.”

NBC News added this:

Nearly half of the children — 1,400 — have been held beyond the three-day legal limit. The CBP holding cells, sometimes known as “hieleras,” or iceboxes, are not designed for children. They are typically small concrete rooms with concrete or metal benches and no beds.

In addition, nearly 170 of the detained unaccompanied children are younger than 13, a source said.

Government data reviewed by NBC News show that the overall number of unaccompanied migrant children who crossed the border in February spiked to about 9,000.

Many of the children arriving at the border initially immigrated during the Trump administration but were quickly expelled under an order from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention meant to protect immigrants and U.S. residents from Covid-19. The Biden administration reversed the policy for unaccompanied children.

As the Biden administration grapples with the surge in crossings, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas last week led a team of senior administration officials to tour migrant holding facilities along the border. The White House said the officials intend to brief President Joe Biden about their findings.

Julissa Reynoso, chief of staff to the first lady, was part of the delegation.

“We did speak to many of the folks involved, including children,” Reynoso said Monday. “We’re trying to manage this in an orderly fashion but very mindful of the human cost here and in light of the fact that we are talking about kids. So that is something that we are managing.”

Biden’s lax border policy is already making a devastating impact.

And it’s bound to get worse unless immediate action is taken.
