With Major League Baseball set to open the new season later this week with fans back in stadiums, toxic racial politics have reared their ugly head before the first pitch has even been thrown.
There is already a chance that the All-Star Game will be pulled out of Atlanta, all as a result of the ugly temper tantrum that Democrats and their activist allies are throwing. Their anger follows a new bill designed to restore faith in the state’s election process.
The head of the Major League Baseball Player’s Association is suggesting that the game could be moved out of the state. This decision seems determined to force Georgia’s Republican Governor Brian Kemp and the state legislature to claw back the bill, after calling it a “common sense” piece of legislation.
In remarks reported by the Boston Globe, NLBPA Executive Director Tony Clark threatened to hold the 91st edition of the star-studded contest hostage in order to bully Kemp and Peach State leaders into backing down.
New from @MikeSilvermanBB: Tony Clark says the MLBPA is ready to discuss moving the 2021 All-Star Game from Georgia in the wake of new voter-restriction legislation that some believe will make it difficult for Black voters to reach the polls. https://t.co/WL7yBiiJPb

According to Clark, the league’s players are “very much aware” of the new law and that “As it relates to the All-Star Game, we have not had a conversation with the league on that issue,” he said and that “If there is an opportunity to, we would look forward to having that conversation.”
Democrats are adding fuel to the fire, including Obama operative and CNN political analyst David Axelrod, who encouraged a revolt by the player union to move the game out of Truist Park.
GIven the outrageous new voter suppression laws, @MLB should move the 2021 All-Star game from Georgia. The film industry, which is flourishing there, should move their productions. Corporations should vote w/their dollars and reconsider investments.https://t.co/qzmVSgAMV3

It’s understandable that Axelrod would be concerned. Georgia’s new bill seeks to bolster election integrity by creating obstacles to mail-in voting abuses, ballot harvesting, shady voter registration, and also requires identification. All of these thing (along with a mysterious “burst water pipe”) deprived then-President Trump of the state’s electoral votes.
But as with everything else these days, any objection to the Democrats’ tilting the tables in their favor is “racism”. The talking points have been established: ensuring that elections are free and fair has been likened to Jim Crow laws.
What Democrats and their mouthpieces in the media leave out is that during the Jim Crow era, it was their party who put those racist laws into place. Don’t take out word for it, just ask the two good-ol-boy Dixiecrat senators that Biden used to yuck it up with. During his presidential campaign he was blistered for it.
Sports used to be a unifying experience, but now that the games have been hijacked by the “woke” revolutionaries it is becoming increasingly difficult to see a return to those days. We remember a time when fans could cheer for their favorite teams instead of being beaten over the head with divisive racial politics.
One thing is for sure, America’s new pastime is an increasingly acrimonious battle to enshrine the government-backed discrimination against white people, and it has corporate sponsorship.
