Arkansas GOP Sen. Tom Cotton argued on Monday that the Biden administration can solve the “ultimate failure of our immigration system” by saying: “you cannot get in, do not come.”
During an interview on Fox News, Cotton dared Biden to tell immigrants “not to come” because they “will not get in” to America.
He said that would play a huge role in dealing with the border crisis, but conceded that Biden and Democrats will “never” do or say that.
“In this little political apparatchik whose been working for the Biden administration for two weeks came down and tried to tell senators in my group like Dan Sullivan to put their phones away or they were going to be escorted out of the facility and it made me wonder who was going to actually do that,” Cotton said.
“Does the Border Patrol agrees that Joe Biden’s policy is an utter and total failure,” he added.
“That’s the thing that we consistently heard, is if you let them in, more will come. Not shockingly if you say that minors get into the country or that anyone who shows up with a child under the age of six gets into the country, guess what, you get more of them into the country,” Cotton declared.
“It leads to the heartbreaking scenes that we’ve seen in some of these pictures and videos from my colleagues,” Cotton said. “But again, those are all just the symptoms, not the cause. The cause is letting them into the country in the first place. And once they’re in, they will never go home.”
Cotton went on to mention just how bad the situation at the border has gotten.
“Many of them aren’t even getting a notice to appear in court. And if they do appear in court and they get a notice of removal to deportation, well Joe Biden has halted deportations,” he said.
He added, “These people know that they can get into our country and they are never going to have to go home and they can lead a better life. That is the ultimate failure of our immigration system. It could all be solved by simply saying, you cannot get in, do not come. If you do, we will send you home.”
The border crisis created by the Biden administration is about to get a lot worse in the coming months.
According to documents that were leaked to Axios, the Biden administration is projected that the number of unaccompanied children crossing the U.S.-Mexico border could spiral from more than 16,000 this month to as many as 26,000 in September.
So, the administration thinks the border crisis will continue to get worse month over month until at least September.
The Department of Homeland Security has released at least more than 23,400 border-crossers into the United States interior since February.
Many Republicans have criticized Biden’s immigration policies.
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy went off after visiting a massive facility overflowing with illegal immigrants, saying it was “worse than we thought.”
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell flat-out said that Biden “owns” the border crisis, and that, “It is, by definition, an emergency.”
