There’s nothing more repulsive than scammers who try to trick people into giving away their money or valuable things– and the internet is full of them! Sadly, even though there are many warnings out there, some people are still falling for their elaborate lies, sometimes simply out of the goodness of their hearts. Scammers have long been known for coming up with the most tragic stories to make sympathetic folks open their wallets.

The good thing is that these thieves aren’t always very bright, which doesn’t get them very far. Take, for instance, this guy who texted a Reddit user ShankABee because he wanted to buy his gaming computer and created the dumbest excuse for why he can’t pay for it in cash. Luckily, the seller didn’t fall for his lies and decided to troll him. The conversation turned out to be hilarious and even went viral.

Xander, who shared the funny conversation, told  that it’s not the first time he’s dealing with the scammers online, “but it is the first time I decided to see where it would go,” he said. The computer seller said he knew something was off with this guy from the beginning. “I had suspicions right off the bat when he asked for pictures that were already on the ad”.

Although the scammer’s lowballing attempt gave him some doubts, “typically they would offer more than the asking price,” he says, it all became clear when the buyer started making excuses for why he can’t pay in cash. “I honestly chuckled a bit that he was trying to say he had his account hacked so he couldn’t pay in cash.”
